Well, according to some diligent researchers, it appears that Mad Hatter Day is celebrated on October 6th (10/6). So does that mean that the 10/6 is just a reference to the date of the celebration? No, it doesn’t. The 10/6 is really a reference to the cost of the hat – a cost of ten shillings sixpence. So the date of the Mad Hatter Day was actually chosen to coincide with the cost of these quirky hats. Pretty interesting, isn’t it? You could use this little tidbit of information as a conversation piece at your Halloween Tea Party!
